How accurate is it?

How to read this listHow each organisation is checked, the columns, and tiers
What is on the list

Only UK companies that passed a check of their own website. We crawl UK-visited sites, match the company number on the site to a live company at Companies House, then Claude reads the site's pages and must quote, word for word, who runs it and what users can do. A program confirms every quote is really on the page. Anything not proven stays off the list.

Verdict

In scope the site's own pages show users can share content with or message each other, and that this company runs it. Open any row to see the quotes and the pages they came from.

Left off

Sites run by a different company, sites where users can only comment on or review the company's own content (exempt), sites with no user features, and sites we could not read. The Overview shows how many of each.

OSA no.Our permanent reference for the organisation, for use in notes and conversations.
OrganisationLegal name and company number at Companies House, and the main website we found. Many sites never print a company number, so those are checked on everything else and marked: "Company matched by name" when the company the site names is the only exact match at Companies House, "Company not confirmed" when the site names an operator we could not match, and "Company not stated" when it names none. The service checks are the same for all of them.
SizeFrom turnover in the latest filed accounts (staff numbers if turnover is not stated), using the UK thresholds: micro up to £1m, small up to £15m, medium up to £54m, large above that, enterprise £250m or more, the level at which Ofcom fees can apply. Marked "estimated" when only the accounts type is available.
CheckedThe date Claude checked the site. Every listed organisation has quoted proof on file.
What users can doOnly the user features proven by a quote from the site, such as listings, messaging or forums.
OfcomShown when Ofcom has categorised the service (Category 1, 2A or 2B) or acted against it.

Measured accuracy

How the hit rate is measured

A random sample is drawn from every size band. A person checks each record against the scope rubric: is this the right legal entity, does the service let users interact, does an exemption apply, is it UK-linked. Precision is the share of checked records where the verdict was right. 100 checks give a margin of about six points either way at 95% confidence; publish the figure once precision is 90% or better.
